Approved Fireworks Zone/Area
Fireworks (Class C / Division 1.4G consumer fireworks) are permitted “ONLY” in the designated, blue-shaded area shown on the included map; the red areas are prohibited, and discharge outside of the Hyde Park City boundary is prohibited.
Discharge is allowed only during legal hours: 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on July 2, 3, and5, and until midnight on July 4.
Fireworks will be prohibited for the July 24th holiday, and I encourage all to enjoy the city celebration and the state-approved fireworks display.
Allowed Firework Boundary Discharge Area Description:
The eastern boundary will be as follows:
• Prohibited East of 100 East and extending to our northern and southern boundary
• Prohibited West of 200 West and extending to our northern and southern boundary
In support of Governor Cox’s recommendation, we encourage residents to attend professional public fireworks displays where available for safer, organized celebrations of the America250 celebration.
Important Safety Rules (per City Code and State Law):
• Always have a garden hose or water source ready
• Never leave fireworks unattended; fully extinguish all materials
• Keep children and pets safe; adults must supervise
• No fireworks in prohibited areas outside the green zone, on dry grass, nearstructures, or in agricultural areas
• Violators may face fines of up to $1,000 and liability for any damage caused
